The University of Pittsburgh’s Global Partnerships professionals strategically and systematically offer support to expand upon existing partnerships, develop new partnership opportunities, and  help the University of Pittsburgh further establish itself as a leader in global education.  

With associates seated under the Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs and the Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs and International Programs at the Pitt Schools of the Health Sciences, this combined team works closely with colleagues across University of Pittsburgh schools and departments building bridges and making connections between Pitt schools and their partners on a global scale.  

Garrett Margliotti

Director for Global Partnerships and Partner Engagement

Garrett Margliotti serves as the inaugural Director of Global Partnerships and Partner Engagement at the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for International Studies. In this pioneering role, Margliotti collaborates closely with Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs Ariel C. Armony and Jeff Whitehead, Executive Director of Global Engagement, to establish and execute a strategic vision for the University’s transformative partnerships worldwide.

Margliotti plays a vital role in fostering thought leadership by assessing existing relationships, cultivating new partnerships, and managing the entire lifecycle of international agreements, from requests to approvals and assessments. Additionally, he spearheads the development of an International Partnerships Incubator, contributing to the University’s global engagement initiatives.

Bringing a wealth of experience, Margliotti joined Pitt after serving as the Senior Associate Director of Advising and Programming at Northeastern University’s Global Experience Office. Prior to that, he directed Carlow University’s Center of Global Learning. Margliotti holds an MEd in Higher Education Administration and a BA in French and History, both from Pitt.

Laura Daversa

Assistant Director of Global Partnerships & Events

Laura Daversa is the inaugural Assistant Director of Global Partnerships and Events at the University of Pittsburgh’s University Center for International Studies (UCIS). While under the umbrella of UCIS and the Vice Chancellor for Global Affairs, Ms. Daversa works with the Director of Global Partnerships & Partner Engagement on inter-institutional partnership strategy, partnership inventory and assessment, and development of university-wide resources for all Pitt faculty and staff within the newly developed global partnership incubator. She also works to facilitate international delegations with high-level and strategic partners, coordinate partnership-related senior leadership travel, and oversee UCIS annual signature events.

Daversa holds a BA in Communications and Rhetoric and certificate in Public and Professional Writing from the University of Pittsburgh. Ms. Daversa has over 15 years’ experience in the nonprofit sector as an event and project manager with a special interest in international organizations, international and intercultural communications, cultural institutions, and global education.
